Fifth Grade News for the Week of  October 9-13

This Week:

Book Fair – Mrs. Tabor’s class will visit the book fair this Wednesday.

 

How do I use multiplication to convert measurements?

Students will begin the week using place value understanding and estimation to find the product of a whole number and a decimal.  We are then going to multiply to convert between meters and centimeters or ounces and cups with measurements in whole number, fraction, and decimal form.  There will be a Mid-Module Assessment on Friday.  Study guides will be distributed on Thursday.

 

What are Native American Cultural Regions?

We will discover seven Native American cultural regions and connect the environment of each region with cultures that developed there.  We are going to learn about the California-Intermountain, Eastern Woodlands, Great Plains, Plateau, Northwest Coast, Southwest, and Southeast cultural regions.

 

How do I put the final touches on my personal narrative?

Students are going to going to begin to wrap up their personal narratives by making final revisions through peer and self-edits.
