A
note from Mrs. Tabor…
I can’t believe the
school year is quickly winding down! The
students have made so much progress this year!
This Wednesday, we will
have our end of the year celebration in the library. At the celebration you will get to look
through your child’s work from the year, scrapbook, and watch a slide show of
our kindergarten memories.
The Zoo Field trip is
Tuesday! It is supposed to be beautiful! Please be sure to put sunscreen on
your child and send plenty of water!
Please have your child wear tennis shoes and their yellow class t-shirt
(or yellow shirt)! Send in a sack lunch,
disposable water bottle, and snack. We
will eat snack before we leave so please don’t pack their snack in their lunch
bag. Also, please back your child’s lunch
in a disposable sack. We don’t want to
have carry a lunch box all around the zoo after we are finished eating. Chaperone please meet inside the zoo at 10:00
am by the floating globe area to break into groups! Chaperones will need to bring a bag to carry
their groups’ lunches. It will be a fun
day!
Thursday is our Kindergarten
Class Yearbook Signing! If you purchased
a year book and would like to have your child’s yearbook signed by their
friends, please send it in.
Wednesday, we will be
singing for Mr. Tilley’s 5th grade class recognition. Please wear
something nice to school this day! You
might want to send in a change of clothes.
Of Friday, we will
participate in “Jumpies in the Gym.” Students must wear socks! Also, all library books must be returned
before students can participate.
We are missing a few of
our guided reading books. Please check
the house for any books that might have been left at home through the school
year!

Reading
Workshop
We are continuing to review our reading and
comprehension strategies.
Writing
Workshop
We
will be writing about our favorite part of Kindergarten this week! We will
include this piece in our scrapbook!
There will be no Family Journal.
Word
Study
This
week, we will explore short and long e and u.
We will focus on word families (-ube, -ute, -une, -eed, -eep and –eet.) Play rhyming games with these word families
and see how many words you can come up with!
We
will also learn how to read and write these words that will be added to our
Word Wall: saw and want. Have your child
spell these and use them in a sentence.
You can also find them while reading!
Math
We
will review math skills taught throughout the year by playing familiar math
games.
Science
We
are continuing our Science unit studying and comparing animals. We are learning about animal parents and
their offspring.
