A note from Mrs. Tabor…

Thank you to everyone who has donated supplies that the students will use to make our Spirit Pencils.  The children are getting very excited to begin production!   Students can send in orders for the HELP Project items.  Orders are due by April 24th.  Checks need to be made payable for Relay for Life. 

 Reminders

*Each week’s word work lists are available for students to practice on Spelling City. The link is: https://www.spellingcity.com/sherilyntabor/

*In class we have been using the app, Front Row, to practice math concepts.  You can use this app at home.  Your child’s user name is first name, last initial, and the password is r442ji.

*Send in a healthy snack and water bottle every day!

*Now that the weather seems to be indecisive, please check the forecast each day to decide on outerwear.  Again, recess is at 10:30.

*Be sure to sign and return your students planner every day! Don’t forget to record their reading!

What are we learning?

 Reading Workshop

This week students will continue to practice their fluency by reading, practicing, and performing Reader’s Theater scripts based on folktales. 

Writing Workshop

In Writing we will practice writing and punctuating dialogue.  We will also finish our good copies of our trickster tales. 

Word Study

This week’s word wall words are: 

Problem, bed, clothes, fine, fire

 Math

In Math we will continue to practice solving addition problems using two digit and three digit numbers in which we add together more than two numbers.  We will also practice solving these types of problems using mental math, and pre-assess student’s knowledge of subtracting across zeros.     

 Science & Social Studies

This week we will begin our next science unit on weathering, erosion, and deposition.  We will review the types of landforms found on our planet.  Then we will take a weathering walk to identify examples of weathering found outside our school. We will also perform weathering and erosion experiments.
