A note from Mrs. Tabor…

More snow days??? Trust me, I am as anxious as you are to get back to our routine.  I am not sure when our last day is (you can find that information on the Oldham County board website), however we will have school on Presidents Day, Monday February 17. Please be sure to mark that in your calendar! As of today, the 100^th day is Friday, so send your child’s T-shirt that day.  Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. During our Valentine’s Day party we will exchange valentines. I will send home a printed list of all the kids’ first names for your child to use to fill out their valentine cards.  More information about our Valentine’s Party will be coming home soon.

Mrs. Hammons will be teaching us about stranger danger over the next 2 weeks.  For homework, your children will be asking you to discuss who their “safe side” people are.  Mrs. Hammons will be sending home more information about this.

 

Dates to Remember

·         February 7: 100^th day (Monday the 10^th if there are any more snow days this week)

·         February 12: Early Release

·         February 17: We will have school due to the snow days!

 

What are we learning?

Reading Workshop

We will continue learning about community helpers and identifying the key details in a text.

 

Writing Workshop

 We will continue to write our community helpers books. We will complete a Family Journal entry at the end of the week. 

 

Word Study

We are adding them, did and come to our word wall words.  Have your child sing you the songs for these words. We will also explore hard and soft Cc words.  

 

Math

We will begin a new unit on discovering many ways to make a number.  For example, the ways to  make 10 (9 + 1, 7 + 3…).

 

Science/ Social Studies

We are exploring with the 5 senses.
